Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still be seen if I have insurance and no membership?
We are still taking most major insurance for the time being, but are transitioning to the membership only model. Even if you have insurance the membership model still makes sense; especially if your insurance is high deductible. The majority of healthcare costs for most people fall under their deductible and are therefore out-of-pocket anyway. With the membership most of your healthcare can be handled for a fraction of the cost you would pay with insurance.
Can my membership go towards my deductible?
The IRS currently categorizes direct primary care and its monthly membership fee as a “health plan.” So the monthly cost is not eligible to go toward a deductible if you also carry high deductible health insurance coverage.
Can my labs and a la carte service go toward my deductible?
Yes, your labs and a la carte service can go towards your deductible. Just ask for a receipt to submit to your insurance and we are happy to give you one.
Are my labs covered by my membership?
No, but they are discounted significantly compared to what you would pay if you went directly to the lab. In some cases by as much as 90%.
Can I get a discount if I pay upfront?
The cost of your membership goes down if you pay quarterly or yearly.
Is there a reenrollment fee if I quit my membership and want to join again?
A re-enrollment fee of twice the monthly fee will be charged to re-enroll. For example a $100 membership will have a re-enrollment fee of $100 on top of the $100 monthly fee for the first month.
How old does my child have to be to become a member?
We will see children as young as 12 years old.
Can I use my HSA account to pay for my membership?
Under current tax law, you cannot use the funds in your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay your direct primary care (DPC) membership fees, but you can use HSA funds to pay for incidental charges, such as those for lab tests and imaging.
